This Boston startup is teaching self-driving cars to think like humans

A recent report by Conservation Law Foundation, an environmental advocacy organization based in Boston, finds that autonomous vehicles will reduce collision costs resulting from car accidents in Massachusetts from $5.5 billion in 2015 to $3.4 billion by 2050. According to the report, while self-driving cars will increase congestion in the Boston area by as much as 17 percent, they will also provide “considerable” safety benefits by reducing accidents.
